Exploring Lexical Trends in Diachronic Corpora. A Statistical Learning Perspective
The talk concerns the general problem of exploring the temporal evolution of word frequencies in diachronic corpora in order to detect relevant lexical trends. Applications of this method in different settings are discussed (corpora of scientific literature, institutional discourses, novels) to show innovative ways for achieving an effective representation of lexical trends and highlight strengths, challenges and constraints.
