prof. PhDr. Zdenka Rusínová, CSc.
(* 1939)
She studied Czech and Russian at the Faculty of Arts in Brno, with which she also linked her entire professional life. She worked at the Bohemian Studies department, serving in the 1990s as the head of the Institute of the Czech Language at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University. She also held the positions of vice-dean and vice-chair of the faculty senate. She began her scientific career as a dialectologist but gradually focused on Czech morphology from both diachronic and synchronic perspectives. Her extensive publication activity includes university textbooks intended for both Czech and foreign students, such as Problémy současné české morfologie (1977), Tvoření slov v současné češtině (1980), Základní kurs češtiny pro cizince (1971), and Praktická cvičení z češtiny (1981), as well as the monography Tvoření staročeských adverbií (1984) and a series of synchronically focused professional articles, such as the innovative cycle of articles on diminutives (1990s). An important component of her scientific profile also includes studies focused on the philosophy of language, pragmalinguistics, the theory and practice of orthography, and more. She contributed both as an author and editor to Příruční mluvnice češtiny (1995), for which she prepared a highly valued and user-friendly chapter on morphological morphology, and she prepared entries related to derivation in Czech for the Encyklopedický slovník češtiny (2002). She contributed a chapter on the development of interest in word formation to the collective work Kapitoly z dějin české jazykovědné bohemistiky (2007) and participated in the preparation of entries for the Nový encyklopedický slovník češtiny (2016). Her pedagogical work was also significant; she served with extraordinary dedication as a successful supervisor of postgraduate students and achieved excellent results in teaching Czech to foreigners. She has been actively contributing and continues to contribute to the popularization of science through both publication and organizational activities. Her lifelong principled stance, demonstrated, among other things, within the faculty's events in November 1989, deserves great respect.
