For the participants of the conference, we offer a special price at the Continental Hotel www.continentalbrno.cz. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the conference venue. The discounted rate for guests of Masaryk University can be found here; the hotel is highly rated (and recommended) by its guests. Should you request the accommodation at the hotel, please contact Mrs. Jana Viktorová by e-mail to viktorova@continentalbrno.cz. Please, in the e-mail, give your name and surname, date of stay and as an e-mail subject use 'Diachronic Slavonic Syntax 5'. You can make your reservation by May 30, 2022, later registration is subject to hotel accommodation availability. Note: please, do not book the hotel via internet (for instance, booking.com: the hotel then would have to charge you their full price, not the special discounted one for the participants of the conference).

Moreover, there are Hotel Pegas www.hotelpegas.cz, Arte apartments www.apartmentsarte.cz and Passage Hotel www.hotelpassage.eu, all in the vicinity of the Conference venue. Furthermore, Masaryk University also runs Hotel Garni (also Hostel) www.hotel-garni-vinarska.hotel.cz/ about 20 minutes by trolleybus from the conference venue.

Travel

The most convenient airports are Vienna and Prague, some airlines fly directly to Brno.

Traveling from Vienna or Prague

There is a regular train service operating between Vienna and Brno with departures approximately every hour or every second hour. There is also a regular bus service provided by, for instance, Student Agency (RegioJet) or FlixBus.

There are direct trains between Prague and Brno with departures twice in an hour. We recommend taking an EC train, which is the fastest one.  You can also go by bus. The connection is operated by companies such as Student Agency (Regiojet), FlixBus and others.

Traveling from Brno airport

There is a direct bus E76 from Brno airport to the center (to Hlavní nádraží = Main train station). The trip will take approx. 17 minutes. At the main train station, you need to change to the tram no. 12 (direction Technologický park). The journey takes about 7 minutes. The stop to get off at is called Grohova. From the main train station, you can also take no. 4 (direction Úvoz). The journey takes about 7 minutes. The stop to get off at is called Obilní trh. Both options bring you close to the faculty.

For the whole trip from the airport to the conference venue, you need a 60-minute ticket. You can pay by card directly on the tram. There are yellow ticket machines where you use your card at the boarding. You only put your card to the machine, there is no need to push any buttons or wait for any receipt.  If you are transferring between vehicles, your ticket is still valid for 60 minutes after the first check-in. So, e.g., if you buy a ticket on the bus from the airport and then immediately transfer for no. 12 or no. 4 at the main train station, your ticket should still be valid.

For further usage of the trams throughout your stay, also note that if you are getting off the tram within 15 minutes (and only then), you should also beep your card just before leaving the tram. You will be charged less. A ride under 15 minutes will cost you 20 CZK (0.81 €). A ride of more than 15 minutes will cost you 25 CZK (1.01 €). You should never be charged more than 90 CZK (3.65 €) in a day. You can read more about the system Beep & Go here.

If you don't want to use your card to buy a tram/bus ticket, you can also use cash (coins) in yellow ticket machines at bus/tram stops. Tickets are also sold at newsstands. Alternatively, you can buy a ticket from the driver (for 35 CZK), in which case we recommend that you prepare the exact amount. Do not forget to validate the paper ticket when you get on the bus/tram.
