Diachronic Slavonic Syntax 5: Function Words in the Diachrony of Slavic Languages (DSSL 5)
Brno (Czech Republic), June 23 –25, 2022
The conference is the next in the DSSL series bringing together linguists interested in the historical development of Slavic languages on an empirical basis. The conference focuses on the development of Slavic functional words and their syntactic, semantic, pragmatic or communicative function, be it deictics, auxiliaries, relatives, conjunctions, prepositions, particles, sentential adverbs, etc. We particularly welcome contributions discussing the functional words from the perspective of:
- language change
- language variation
- comparison of the development of the functional word in two (or more) Slavic languages (or Slavic with non-Slavic)
- language contact
- the Proto-Slavic reconstruction
Papers based on the analysis of historical sources or diachronic corpora are preferred. The organizers expect that the conference will be a place to discuss the historical phenomena from different methodological perspectives.
The language of the conference is English.
Invited speakers:
- Prof. Dr. Tilman Berger (Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen)
- Prof. Dr. Björn Wiemer (Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz)
